Welcome to the Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment Re-enactment Society website.

We are a Guildford based re-enactment society founded in 2004, and we are unique in portraying both the regular and volunteer battalions of one of the British Army's oldest regiments.

The Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment was founded in 1661 as the Tangier Regiment, and still exists today as part of the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment.

We portray the Regiment as it would have been in the Victorian era, around 1881.

We usually represent 2 battalions:

  • The 2nd Battalion Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment, based in India in 1881
  • The 2nd Volunteer Battalion Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment, based in Guildford in 1881

This allows us to show the regiment both at home, as seen by the local townsfolk of the era, and the more widely recognised regiment on campaign, iconic in their scarlet tunics and instantly recognisable all across the world. We also portray other aspects of the regiment, as circumstances require.

For more information, take a look at our history page, or browse through our gallery.

We are always happy to accept new members, so if you are interested in joining, contact us using our simple online form and our recruitment officer will get back to you shortly.
